Exceeded my expectations! Very friendly service and my carry-out order was ready perfectly on time. I'm always nervous to try a new Thai place, but I will definitely be back to this location. We had the Tom Yum soup, Fresh Rolls, Kow Pad (fried rice) and Pad Thai. All were fresh, delicious, and exactly as described on the menu. Prices were very reasonable for the large portions. Highly recommended!

I have been looking for a new Thai place after three demise of Spice of Thai. Mmm good Pad Ped with squid. Mild plus was perfect. Some places don't pit coconut milk in this dish and it's always missing something without it. Generous portion with lots of veggies and squid. Very fresh. I'm glad to have a new place in Royal Oak.

I miss REXY'S!! I called the place for over an hour and couldn't get through, I thought perhaps they hadn't opened yet and was driving past so I pulled in... They'd been working on the TV and were using the phone that people use for calling in lunchtime orders to do something related to fixing the TV... Not very smart business practice there. My Pad See Yew was overcooked and the sauce tasted like it had some sort of powder added to it...Everything was an unappealing dark brown color with a "malty" feel in the mouth. I bought the cookbook years ago of REXY'S recipes and make my own Pad See Yew at home often and my sauce is 1000 times better than what I was given here. I won't be back. Fortunately, Penn's Thai Kitchen is pretty close to my work.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I'm more partial to my crappy, Americanized Chinese food than Thai food. I've probably eaten Thai food a total of ten times in my life, so I'm no expert. Generally, I would opt for Chicken Pad Thai or Pad...See You. That's not how you spell it, but that's how you say it and I'm too lazy to look up the correct spelling right now. So we ordered carry out the other night. A group of three of us split some crispy rolls, the garlic chicken fried rice, and bangkok chicken. I also ordered hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was very good - quite similar to Chinese hot and sour soup. However, the beef or pork that was in the soup was quite dry. The crispy rolls weren't really like anything I've had before. They had an odd texture and what can only be described as an "earthy" flavor. I don't know if I'd order them again. The garlic fried rice was excellent and the bangkok chicken was also pretty good. I ordered it extra hot and happily, it came out extra hot. It was quite spicy. Now the bankgok chicken sauce is naturally very very sweet. So it was super sweet and super hot which might have been a lot for my brain to get through. I wish the sauce were just a little more on the savory side than the sweet side because it is REALLY sweet. All in all, not a horrible experience. I might stick to my old standbys if we order from here again.

I may have a new favorite Thai takeout place. I bought an Amazon Local deal for this place a while back, so I had $22 to use. I was going to use it with a friend, but the deadline was looming so I decided to splurge and spend it all on myself. And you can get a lot of things for $22 there.... I got the Pad Prik with chicken as well as the Pad Almond with beef, both mild, the "fresh rolls," and Tom Yum soup. Let's just say I have a LOT of leftovers - the portions are generous and a dinner is only $8 too (looking at you, Sy Thai, though that's one of my faves too). The soup was tart (the lemongrass?) with HUGE mushrooms, and was a bargain for $2. The fresh rolls were actually like rolled up mini salads, with a delicious peanutty dressing. I liked the Pad Almond sauce a little better than the Pad Prik - it could be the same sauce, but it tasted better with the beef, IMO. The guy who I talked to on the phone was friendly, too, and same for pickup. My ONLY dislike about this place is that it's in one of those teeny tiny plazas on Woodward, where you have to look out your side view window to get back out onto the street. Otherwise, I will definitely be back.

Great lettuce wraps and very tasty Apple salad. The hit and sour soup was excellent. You get a lot of food for the money. Very nice staff.

I stop here when I'm on the way back to my office. Convenient location that allows me to pick up tasty Thai food. Efficient service. $8 for most entrees is not bad. I had the drunken noodle with chicken (mild+). Delicious.

I ordered 2 dishes, chix cashew & a pud se ewe. Both dishes had way too much soy sauce in them which distorted the taste, even though they were medium spicy. I have eaten here before & was very disappointed. I Will definitely reconsider when I am in the mood for Thai food again....don't know if the chefs have changed.

Have eaten here before and the food use to be much better, I have to agree with others, there must be a new cook in the kitchen. I had a dish that was Pad Thai something, with cellephane noodles. The noodles were all glued together with the crush peanuts lumped in, there was abut 5 slices of dried out pork with no other vegetable, it was horrible. The Chicken Salad on lettuce wreaked of soy sauce and it was unrecognizable to what it even was. Way too salty. I gave it two stars because my husband said his hot and sour soup was okay. Wouldn't go back there even if it was free.

Came here just for boba. The seating area is like 3 tables. There is an unisex bathroom that is spacious and clean. The man up front was very nice and approachable. He seemed very experienced. He made our boba from scratch which was unexpected. I thought they'll have a bag of premade boba in the back but then its been kind of cold so not many people order boba. Probably smarter to make it whenever someone orders. Overall, each drink was $4.50 including boba. I ordered a thai tea boba. It was a bit too sweet for me. I love thai teas btw! My boyfriend ordered the green tea boba which is a smoothie. I wonder if its real green tea or just the powder. Overall, the bobas were ehh. Not bad but not good either. I probably won't be coming back.

I tried this place again... Maybe they are reading our yelps as what I ordered was actually hot. Ordered 3 dishes two were great... 1 was biting and did not seem to even be what I ordered.

We purchased a Groupon so that's how we ended up giving this place a try. Based on so many negative reviews, we were a bit skeptic and nervous, but we kept an open mind, and it was not as bad as we were prepared for. The one reviewer mentioning about calling and not being able to get through, that happended to us as well. When we called to place a carryout order, we were put not on "hold" but the phone was just set down on the counter and then we were forgotten about. We stopped in anyway and just placed our order over the counter and mentioned the long phone wait, and the person working the counter apologized profusely and explained that it was terribly busy and then someone had spilled something in the dining area and that it just got really hectic for a time. He offered us free soft drinks to make up for it, and we thought that was a nice gesture. Over all I think we would be go back. It's not a 5 star restaurant, it's a quickie Thai carryout place. That's what we expected so we were not let down. The portions are decent for the price too.

June 2014 Revised 2-star Experience: OK, so we love a deal and another Groupon offer enticed us to give this place a 2nd chance in case our first visit was due to opening jitters... This time we found the food to be very typical, but unremarkable Thai food. Not worth standard pricing but OK when a Groupon or Amazon Local deal comes along. We continue to go to the two veteran/standards Birmingham Thai places when we want reliably good Thai. BTW, look at this as a carry-out location - while they have tables, it feels like a cheap bus station diner. September 2013 Original 1-star Review: This physical location has gone thru at least 3-4 different Thai restaurants over the past 10 years. The first one I knew of was excellent and cheap - I had friends who drove from several miles away to it. Then the owner retired and sold it. Bummer. Really bad followed by another even worse place. The building sat empty. Then the ubiquitous Bangkok Cuisine (AKA the old Rexy's in the Northwood Shopping center) opened up this express location about a month ago (end of July 2013?). Since there are two excellent Thai places in nearby Birmingham we ignored it... until Groupon did a $8 for $15 deal. What a mistake. Some of us could not finish the food. It was bland and mushy, not fresh tasting. The chicken in one of the meals was rubbery, almost gristle-like. Back to the two Bham standards for us.

Placed a pick up order for Pad Thai Curry with chicken, got home and it was a completely different dish with mushrooms and no meat at all. Went back to have my order fixed, and they gave me the same wrong dish with chicken the second time. The host then proceeded to tell me it was my fault for saying Pad Thai Curry, instead of Pad Thai. Will not eat there again.

yelp's default "Meh. I've experienced better." sums this place up perfectly. There are a bunch of Bangkok Cuisines around. I went to the one on Woodward in Detroit at least once a week for about five years, and it seemed like it slowly, slowly declined. I bought the groupon for the Royal Oak one knowing how "Meh" the Detroit one is, and Royal Oak is just as"Meh-ish." I think it was worth it for the groupon, but if paying full price I'd rather go to the Thai Express on 9 Mile, or the new Sy's on the Cass. Also, what kind of Thai place charges you a buck for SUBSTITUTIONS?!?!? Broccoli instead of mushrooms? A buck. Curry sauce instead of brown? A buck. Going somewhere else next time 'cause this place nickle & dime's ya? A yup.

Great Pad Ped and Drunken Noodle. Spring Rolls were delicious too. Ordered carry out on a Sunday Afternoon. The person who took my order was friendly and helpful. Our order was ready in 15 minutes. The dipping sauce for the spring/fresh rolls contains peanuts.

I've experience better.....at a different location of this local chain. I have visited this location and while the food isn't terrible, it is not half as good as the Sterling Heights restaurant and the portions are smaller, still plenty of food, but half the amount for the same price. Of all the local Thai places, and we all know there are many, this is the last one on my list. I will say the service on both occasions was friendly and fast.

The food was great for me... veggies were cooked perfectly and the spice was right on. My daughters meal wasn't as great but she liked it... lack of flavor was due to her having cold. Spring rolls were tasty but greasy. My issue was the lack of professionalism. My server was great aside from announcing that our appetizer plates were wet instead of wiping them off. Great its set up to be mainly a carry out but there are tables there... they should know how to serve! The big problem was the snotty, clueless lady behind the counter. She was either a manager or owner.... she failed in a major way! From never greeting a single person to talking about someone's nerves popping out and oozing all over the place (don't shoot the messenger) she was clueless about proper work place attire, tying her very long hair back around food preparation, and appropriate dining room discussions. If i was not exhausted I would have walked out after her disgusting comments... good thing I don't have a weak stomach!

Other folks were harshing on this place so I thought some balance was in order. Maybe things weren't great as they started their new business, but it's picked up. No problems at all here. Quick, efficient, thai food for takeout. The thai food was adequate--nothing great, but not terrible either. The fresh veggies in the kew warn were great, but the sauces lacked dimension. I've sampled thai food from here to, well, thailand, and, truth be known, nothing in the Detroit area hits it out of the park anyway. There was a guy named Tom who did some good stuff in B'ham for awhile but he moved.

Initially I was hesitant due to the other bad reviews, however also purchasing the Groupon for this restaurant I figured it was worth at least worth a try. Employees answered the phone for carry out within three rings. The lady who answered the phone was very easy to understand and she took my order without any issues. Picking up my carry out I found the restaurant to be very clean inside. Tom Yum soup was very good, as well as Pad Thai chicken. I will frequent this restaurant I thought the food was very good and it is close to our home so one satisfied customer!

I also had a groupon and it was going to expire shortly. After reading the reviews I almost let it. My experience was quite different. The young man behind the counter gave me recommendations. and I just finished a wonderful take out Thai dinner. I like vegetarian and the vegetables were fresh, the sauce wonderful. Obviously all the employees were not as good as this one.
